A Lost Old Friend - State's Rights
I was in Las Vegas this weekend participating in a โMock Trialโ at a Freedom event. It was a great experience being on stage with Wayne Allyn Root and Dean โSupermanโ Cain. We represented ICE, who was on trial for being a meany! By the way, we โwonโ our case!
Mr. Root and his lovely wife, Cindy, invited me to an event later that evening that Mr. Root was mcโing. The event was held by Zhittya Genesis Medicine. This medical research company wants to circumvent the corrupt and oppressive FDA as any new drug takes 20 years and 2,000,000,000 dollars to bring to market. Thus, any new remedies or treatments are stymied instantly because who has 20 years and 2 billion dollars? Zhittya Genesis wants to use the lost authority of stateโs rights, and they want Nevada to be that state because they had done this before. I thought, โWhat did they do before?โ
I sat with a great group of people and had a great time. During this dinner, I listened to several speakers that completely captivated my attention because they each uniquely expressed the need for Nevada to exert her stateโs rights, again. But this time for medical research.
I initially thought, โAgain?โ and โBeforeโ? Yes, โAgainโ and Beforeโ.
I listened to the sitting Lieutenant Governor of Nevada Stavros Anthony describe โAgainโ and โBeforeโ. The more I learn, the more ignorant I realize that I am! Mr. Anthony described the beginnings of Nevada becoming the gambling capital of the world in 1931. It took some time to get from 1931 to where Las Vegas is currently at today, but the point is Nevada did it. Mr. Anthony correctly stated that in 1931, Nevada didnโt go to Washington, D.C. and kneel before the all-powerful federal government and beg them for their approval to institute gambling in Nevada. No, that is not what they did. Instead, they exerted the 10th Amendment of the United States Constitution and made decisions for the residents of Nevada under stateโs rights. They did not even bother to approach the federal government because thatโs not how our constitution works!
What was the response of the federal government? Nothing! Why nothing? Because, even with the growing centralization of power in D.C., states still maintained governance over their respective states.
So, Nevada opened gambling to their state and the rest is history.
This was the point of the dinner, that the state of Nevada or any state for that matter, does not need the approval of the federal government. The speakers detailed how Nevada could be the medical research and medical leader in experimental medicine in the world. The state of Nevada could again make a decision for Nevada without the need of approval from the United States federal government. The same way the state of Nevada just created gambling, the same process could be used to create an open medical research and treatment system outside of the federal governments over reach and oppression from the FDA.
Listen, if you donโt like medical research, especially after COVID, I understand. However, I donโt want the federal government overseeing what drug research companies win and lose. I just want medicine that works. Obviously, the FDA, CDC, and HHS has failed miserably. With that said, if you still pull back at the sound of medical research, replace it with whatever industry or aspect of freedom you want.
The reason our Founding Fathers created the 10th Amendment was because each state and her citizens are unique and possess different qualities, aspirations, beliefs and ideas. We were never supposed to be governed as if we were all the same. We had to adhere to the same Constitution, but the states of America were never deemed the same. New York is different from Nevada. California is different from Alabama. Oregon is different from South Carolina. If the 50 states of America are so different, why must centralized and powerful administrative entities rule over us?
Why canโt Nevada add medical research and treatments independent from the FDA to their offerings of gambling and prostitution? You donโt have to agree with prostitution or gambling, but Nevada and her citizens get to choose not you! Some stiff siting in a congressional seat representing Louisiana or worse an unelected career government employee does not have the power under the Constitution to dictate what happens in Nevada.
As a Christian, I donโt like prostitution but thatโs not the point of this article. The right to be govern by โthe peopleโ not the bureaucrats in D.C. is the issue.
As I sat at that table listening to the speakers, I once again realized how off center we are as a nation.
We are in a moral free fall.
We are not tethered to our Christian beliefs as our Founder Fathers, through their words both spoken and written, made crystal clear that it was Godโs hand in the making of the United States of America.
We have become a nation governed by a bastardized constitution and a government that has authority and extreme power not delineated by our founding documents.
We are a nation divided and the issues that divide us are growing exponentially bigger and they are creating points of no return.
I know the powerful people in D.C. and the powerful institutions they run will never relinquish that power back to the people. That power is intoxicating, enriching and creates generational power and influence. The individuals that hold that power have proven themselves to be incapable and without moral restraint to govern.
There seems to be two outcomes waiting for our nation:
1. We do nothing and die a slower death at the hands of anti-Americans, foreigners, and corrupt politicians and institutions
OR
2. We follow the instructions of our Founding Fathers and create strong militias and do what Thomas Jefferson stated boldly:
โThat whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.โ
As in everything in life, when we remove the clutter, our choices are very well defined.
