When I Visited Ronald Reagan's Presidential Library

My family took our summer vacation back to San Diego as we love to visit our family and take in the breeze and sunshine on the Pacific Ocean.

We have been planning and then replanning making the journey north through the traffic jungle of Los Angeles to visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. Even the thought of driving through LA makes me nauseous. This is an integral part of living in Southern California, the traffic. We sat in traffic around LA for a solid hour going to and coming from Simi Valley. When I mean “sat”, I mean we sat there at zero miles an hour!

As much as we collectively hated being around the cesspool of LA, the trip to President Reagan’s library was worth every second in the LA traffic.

Visiting Reagan’s library has special meaning to me and my family because my father, John Carrell, was a Secret Service Agent assigned to President Reagan’s detail. All of the exhibits, to include the actual Air Force One airplane and Marine One helicopter, were pieces of history that my late father was involved in.

So, this visit was very special.

I am an extremely harsh critic of President Reagan as I hold him responsible for the 1986 amnesty and the eventual demographic destruction of the state of California. The great state of California was once over 90 percent white and a constant Republican state where all the Electoral College votes went Red. The governors and mayors were consistently Republicans! Hard to believe looking at this state of California today. Currently, California is a minority white state with a white population of less than 30 percent. It is a state of continuous disrepair, trashy cities and towns littered with graffiti, homelessness, corruption, and extreme crime.

Prior to the amnesty debacle, California was a location that afforded anyone and everyone an opportunity to obtain an incredible life. Not anymore.

Prior to going to Reagan’s library, I forced myself to give him the benefit of doubt. Instead of focusing on his biggest mistake, I wanted to witness his achievements which were significant to America and to the world.

I lived through the “Reagan Years” in the 80s. This was a time of excess and achievement. It was a time of optimism, pride and most importantly, it was a time of physical success. Not the political lies of success but success that was tangible. You could see it, feel it, and live it. The pride and belief in the greatness of America was at an all-time high.

As I have grown up through the presidential administrations of Ford, Carter, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden, and Trump, not one of those men delivered the level of pride, determination and excitement that Reagan did. I have not felt the excitement of being an American I as did in the 80s. Walking through the library, I asked myself why? Why have I not felt that reassuring belief that everything will be alright? Why do I feel a pending sense of doom and failure? Why does the future feel so uncertain, so filled with doubts?

As I walked through the library pondering these questions, I turned the corner and walked into an exhibit on the world leaders President Reagan fought against and won. I looked up at the exhibit featuring Lenin, Moa, Stalin, Castro, Chernenko, Gorbachev and many other communistic dictators and it hit me why our nation and her citizens are so doubtful and afraid. Those men and their deadly political beliefs that led to hundreds of millions of deaths are rooted in our society to include our state. local and federal governments. We have welcomed tens of millions of third worlders from nations that are socialist/communist.

The wars we fought against communism and the Cold War led and won by Reagan had a cost. That cost was our treasure but more importantly, it cost us our lives. Lives of untold numbers of soldiers and for what. To have first generation foreigners governing us in Congress? To have them governing us as Mayors? As City Councilmen? As School Board members?

If you took a time machine back to the 70s, 80s and 90s, in the middle of the Cold War, and showed the average American who would be allowed to rule over us, they would have all laughed at you then demanded everything that can be done, be done to stop this treason.

But we didn’t stop it. We did the worse thing imaginable; we voted in people that hate the United States of America and who hate us! We voted individuals into positions of power who hold socialistic and communistic ideals and beliefs.

It is easier and clearer when you are fighting against the enemy on the battlefield, outside of your walls. It does not matter if they are bigger, better fighters, or extremely scary because at least you know who and what you are fighting.

It is impossible to fight that same enemy when they live among you. They blend into the fabric of our society, they speak the same language, where the same clothes but they are no less the enemy.

The leaders of our enemies that live inside of our nation do speak our language and they do blend into our society because the enemy has elevated their “leaders” into the halls of power and authority. However, and what is so stunning, is the fact that the enemies among us do not wear our clothes, they do not speak our language, they do not blend into our societies, and that should have all the alarm bells ringing.

Why?

Because the enemy feels so empowered so in control, they don’t even feel the need to act anymore.

President Reagan and other great American leaders fought enemies outside of our walls and won. They would have never believed that their children and grandchildren would one day be forced to fight inside of our walls as that same enemy is here inside the United States of America.

Communist leaders of old Stalin, Moa, Lenin, Castro and their new comrades AOC, Sanders, Warren, Talib, and their ardent followers are emboldened, and they are ready for a war because they are certain they will win.

A new leader must emerge from the people, or we will be lost into the pages of history.
