Trump does it again!
Trump not only is he a man of his word, but he is also a showman.
Why I say Trump is a showman is because Trump understands the power of presentation and perception.
When I first heard of Alligator Alcatraz then I saw the facility when it was built, I thought to myself that this is quintessential Trump. He is presenting an alternative to self-deporting.
Trump has offered one thousand dollars and free plane tickets to each illegal alien that will self-deport. Many people scoffed that this idea was catering to illegal aliens and others said that no one will self-deport. Both groups were wrong. Trump wasn’t catering to illegal aliens but giving them an out, an opening to leave with dignity. Thousands of illegals have already taken this generous offer while others have taken a wait and see approach.
The “wait and see” illegal aliens have calculated that Trump does not have the stones to follow through with his promises. They have badly miscalculated. During the LA and nationwide riots, Trump pushed harder and deployed more and more immigration officers and agents along with the military into the major cities that were sanctuaries. Then Trump opened Alligator Alcatraz. This latest move was a presentation of contrast. On one side is self-deportation with dignity and the other is we will hunt you down, arrest you and then put you in a pit of hell. This place is so formidable, we will have not even build a single wall to stop you.
In fact, please try to escape and become a poster for “Don’t Try This!”.
Trump is the master at creating the perception of what his world is. His world moves fast. His world has consequences for bad decisions. His world is a world of expectations. Trump’s world is America First. Man, does it not feel good to live in this world!
I have had these discussions throughout my career with my colleagues that we do not have to arrest every illegal alien in our country. All we have to do is be consistent day in and day out on arresting and deporting illegal aliens. Couple that consistent law enforcement pressure with making it so difficult, so uncomfortable to live and even survive in America for illegal aliens that they will leave of their own.
Now you add that you will spend time in a facility that looks like a horror movie set and now we have a perception that is rotted in reality. Now we have created a contrast in the outcomes of two decisions - Stay or Leave.
We have just begun this war for the soul of America. President Trump is my president, and he is delivering on his promises.
There is so much more that needs to be done. Trump must increase the daily numbers of arrested and deported. Trump needs to engage the military and open the numerous “pathways” Biden did for these invaders as “pathways” out of our country.
President Trump claims that this situation with tens of millions of illegal aliens in our nation is a national emergency. I agree with the President. Now, I want to see military and law enforcement movement that equals the threat of a national emergency.
Alligator Alcatraz is a great start.
This facility located in the depths of the Everglades needs to be replicated and packed with all the “Wait and See” illegal aliens.
Perception has become reality!
Mr. Carrell, great article. I agree we do not have to physically deport every single illegal, though they all MUST be deported. Perhaps Pres Trump has not considered what would happen if he cut off ALL benefits of ALL kinds to ALL illegals, and I do mean ALL. Before long, illegals would be out of food and money. Then what? Might be starve or die, so why not stop all benefits to get the trend started.
