It must be difficult to be in a situation not of your choice. However, your situation, thousands like it, does not change the language. If I over stayed my visa or worked out of status in Mexico, Guatemala, or Germany I would be labeled, correctly, an illegal alien.
I do not blame people for wanting to come to America. I do blame the elites and the politicians who use migrants as pawns. America has a moral and legal right to maintain her sovereignty just as every other sane nation does.
Again, thank you for commenting and please continue to comment even if we do not agree! I will always be honest, straight forward and civil.
Yes I’m aware that the term is used in immigration law, as it has been used to describe me all of my life when filling out any federal or government document. But for the community it’s derogatory as a human cannot be alien or illegal. It’s is used to dehumanize people, and further create the us vs them narrative.
I appreciate you delving into this topic and writing about it. Here is a bit of unsolicited advice from an undocumented person who immigrated to this country as a toddler, children are not illegal or aliens. The term is a bit derogatory, undocumented, or migrant is much more humane.
Thank you for your comment. However, the term illegal alien is a lawful term used in immigration law and in the courts. It is not derogatory. This is exactly how we have ended up in a nation that is confused and chaotic. We twist words and language to not offend when those words or language is correct.
I am the biggest supporter of legal immigration. As I have written before, some of the most patriotic Americans I have met have been immigrants that have naturalized.
America is a nation of law and order. If we are going to maintain our greatness we must protect of sovereignty.
